KINGDOM BY THE SEA

KINGDOM BY THE SEA

A Poem by Carmina Echavia

This was your kingdom,

Peaceful as the calm wind.

Your hair enjoyed to swing with it.

The stars were your crown

And their twinkling were in your eyes.

You sit on a majestic rock

With your cape of waves

Splashing against your throne.

The moon stares at you

Like you are the only thing It watches all night.

And when you walk along the shore,

The sand welcomes the touch of sea

To soothe your graceful feet.

But the wind became wild,

The stars refused to lie above your head

So your eyes were the coldest of black.

The waves struck your naked back

With raging whips and shout.

The moon covered its eyes with the thickest clouds

Sparing its thinnest light.

And the sand were needles

Letting your sore feet bleed.

There ended your reign,

Buried in the deepest sea of despair.

Never seen,

Never risen again.
