VISIONS OF THE LOVING EYE

VISIONS OF THE LOVING EYE

A Poem by Carmina Echavia

I look to caress your reaching arms,

My hands are soft grasses

Yet their sharp edges

Can cut your dry fingers.

I look to gaze at your watery eyes

Drawing my veiled words,

But I am a raging waterfall

Guarding every letter even its sound.

I look to cuddle your thin body,

You are the empty bottle I come to fill,

But I leak away,

Escaping quickly as the wind.

Oh, you are like the sun,

The sky covers you in vain,

Golden rays giving birth to fire

Burning the veil of my clouded eyes:

I am the flower

Above the grinning grass,

The gentle river after the waterfall,

The concentrated liquid in the bottle's core.

I look into your heart,

Aglow with proven crystals.

It glitters with the sunlight

And flashes escaping radiance.

The traveling rays reach me

Like fire seeking to warm a numb heart,

Beneath the light that connects us

Springs a wide canal of creeping ember.
