I am beautiful because my mommy says so I am beautiful because time stood still the day of the hour of the minute of the second God breathed life into me I am beautiful because I am an angel who has brought down a piece of Heaven with me that I exude every time I smile. I am beautiful because I am me and the Creator saw fit to create no other the same. But most of all I am beautiful because the most magnificent illustration of God’s love is reflected every time I look into my parents eyes and they see the most beautiful part of themselves in me.
Absolutely ADORABLE! I loved that this was written through the eyes of your children instead of your own, but with your wisdom and words on why they are so beautiful.
I am beautiful
because I am an angel
who has brought down a piece of
Heaven with me that I exude
every time I smile.
This was my absolute favorite line of the piece. There are very few things that are better than a child's smile or laughter, so it is as you said, like a little slice of heaven. You also had a fantastic ending as well. Great work!

When I saw her for the first time, how wonderful and perfect she was to me, I understood what it meant to be made in God’s image and how beautiful we are because of who He is. I wrote the very last lines of this piece, “I am beautiful because the most magnificent illustration of God’s love is reflected every time I look into my parents eyes and they see the most beautiful part of themselves in me”, with the idea that because we are made in His image, we all reflect the most beautiful part of Him just I feel my children reflect the most beautiful part of me. There aren’t enough parents who give their children confirmation of their worth and that leaves the door open for negative stereotypes and outside forces to tell them they’re not good enough to be part of what society deems as “beautiful”. I believe if my children can feel how much they’ve meant to me from the day they were born…how beautiful they’ve always been, then the only thing that will determine their self-worth is themselves. Thank you for your time and your most wonderful comment :).

You are correct, there are too many parents that don't teach their children what they are worth, probably one of the reasons why we have so many problems in today's society. Wonderful job.
Briliiant.
I have 3 children and I know how much they bring into my life.
Every child should feel special because they are.
beautiful poem.

This is a beautiful write that honors God. Recently, I did a bible study about how self-rejection leads to spiritual rebellion. This poem is an awesome testimony of how love transforms our minds and us into creatures of faith, shining and full of life. Thanks for sharing.

Until I had children of my own, I could not have fathomed the depths of what true love actually meant. If God made us in His image then the love we have for ourselves and each other extends into Him and vice versa. So, when I look into the faces of my babies, I see the love God must feel for me because I would give my last for the lives of my children just as He gave His only for us...again thank you for another wonderful comment
Wow...This is such raw beauty...so powerful. Thanks for entering this in the contest. I was having a huge internal debate about where to place it. Write on! (this is now one of my favs)

I wrote this piece for my oldest daughter the day we came home from the hospital. When you can look into your child's eyes and see yourself in them it is the most amazing feeling in the world! I'm so glad my words resignated with you...I'm just glad to know there are other parents out there who feel the same! Thanks for the read and for the beautiful comment:)
