I Am Shadow

The lights, I hiss at with a hatred of,
The burning sensations inside my skin,
My eyes adjust to the past dusk light,
And I feel a desire from deep within

I wander through the forest, glee apparent,
Greeted by all my sinister friends,
Crawling and scattering around my feet,
The joy in my mind sees no end

The moon is but a light bulb in a sea of dark,
My breathing gets heavy and my head gets light,
I now allow my surroundings to engulf me,
I open my soul, become one with the night

The snakes escape my shoulders, and slither about,
My teeth bite against my lips, with force,
The place my wings should be tingle like mad,
My bloodstream seems to have changed its course

All my love I had before, cast aside,
No regard for tears, pleading, or pain,
I wander into the night, a wonderful onyx shade,
Where I can feel like myself once again
