EscapeA Poem by Teenytot22Another old one, tweaked a little.
Golden wings spread far and wide,
Longing to push life's restraints aside. Taking that final, faithful leap, A new-found vitality, embedded deep. Yet reality brutally taints the relief; New senses of fear, worry and grief. Danger surrounds the newborn flight, The beatable, transparent; the blackest, out of sight. A bitter cold descends upon It's lonely, frightened, desperate song. Fly away little meadowlark, Before the inevitable dark. As forced freedom brings more repression, The desperation to escape, a constant obsession.
