Trap Door

Trap Door

A Poem by Teddybearlee

When a door closes and locks
And the promised ones that open
Are permanently blocked
There's a trap door hidden underfoot
That opens with flames beneath
You have two choices at this crossroads
Suffer and endure, or end your very being
There's no foreseeable timetable
Of the tortures you will suffer
It may very well be until your last breath
And that's why ending it all now
Is an option we may want to check
But if you're like me
Curiosity will kill you in the long run
Because you want to believe tomorrow is better
But it may never be
There's no guarantee
For the likes of you and me
Just the trap door
An illusion we want to believe
God won't answer
Karma doesn't apply to us
We must be, forever the devil's dolls

"But if you're like me
Curiosity will kill you in the long run
Because you want to believe tomorrow is better
But it may never be
There's no guarantee" - This is so relatable. Depression is insufferable at times and its understandable to want to find a permanent solution. The only moment that matters is the current, yet we are left waiting and wondering if the pain will someday subside. Well done.
