Echoing Hallway

Echoing Hallway

A Poem by Teddybearlee

Every day, when he walks through the door of his family home
He remembers her welcome smile and he feels so alone
The hug and the greeting of hi honey how was your day
With a shrug and a "same old", in her arms he wants to stay

This empty house is filled with memories of her
Even after all this time it still doesn't blur
She gave this place a warming heart beat
Now it's just a restless place, where he tries to sleep

He wanders to the window absent mindedly
Even though he always knows exactly what he'll see
A single car parked in the driveway looking lonely
A reflection of his feelings and how his life will be

Another holiday rolls around and he puts her gift on the stand
His shrine of memories to carry him away to a happy land
The pictures of her show a caring and affectionate pair
The woman he gave his everything and laid his heart bare

The night is winding down and his anxiety sets in
Going to be another long night thinking of her again
Laying in the bed they use to share
Good night my love, wherever you are, my heart is there
