Cold, Dark, Dreary

Cold, Dark, Dreary

A Poem by Teddybearlee

The flashes, of images, that puncture as a blade
Another one, touching you, having you his way
I shudder, I cringe, try and shut my brain down
But I am no computer, I'm just another clown

It's like a lightning strike to my body when
These pictures that just creep in
Broken glass explodes inside
Shocking a heart thats already died

Never sleep at night the nightmares are real
Reach my arm over, theres nothing to feel
Someone else is draped over you
It hits me hard every time, you flew

Away from me, to anothers bed
It's fucked me up so bad in my head
This boy gets what I worked my whole life for
To be with you, the one I write of in my lore

This flows so well, and once again tells such a heartbreaking story of a failed love. You have described exactly how painful it feels to have memories you wish to forget, or not have to grieve, come into your mind. I really like how well you have done that and with such imagery too. Half way through this poem where you mention why the relationship failed really hit me hard. You are a very strong man. The second last line in this poem really upsets me. It must be incredibly frustrating. But at least you can say you put the effort in and wasn't the one who did wrong, I suppose. Oh and also the line "Reach my arm over, theres nothing to feel" is very good. It speaks of loneliness and almost reminds me of cold winter nights.
