Blood Slick

Blood Slick

A Poem by Teddybearlee

Warm blood spills out, cold by the time it hits the floor
No bandage, can absorb this flood, white tile drenched, from door to door
Welcome home, the hot breath of the devil whispers in my ear
A resigned sigh, is all I have to give, I have no fear

Staring empty out the window at the darkend sky with gray clouds
A hushed silence falls over the land, no one here to scream and shout
Forever my wishes and prayers, left unanswered by any spirit
Like an unwrapped present, and I can't get near it

This beating heart decelerates, a slow thump in my being
When a heart has been detached, the soul starts emptying
A slow crawl to the bed, to finally rest my weary head
As my eyes grow heavy, this world I'll happily shed

One life to live, one life I held, one life left me in this void
I am to you, a nothingness, someone to use, a broken toy
So I call myself home, to the broken ground, to find peace
To shut this pain out, this waiting, yet knowing, it will never cease
