Not Just Words

Not Just Words

A Poem by Teddybearlee

"I'd die for you", such a cliche, said by love all the time
It diminishes the truth when I use the line
It's not just a phrase or words to impress you
I value your life above all others so true

I'd shelter you with my body against any harm
A grenade, a bomb, or just to keep you warm

I'd take a bullet to the chest, a knife to the heart
Gi've you my last breath, to keep from drowning in the dark

I'd take on ten men to protect you from hurt
In a storm I'd cover you with more than my shirt

I'd walk through the fire of a burning building
And carry you to safety, and hold  up the ceiling

You know my words are always real, not fake
My life for yours, any sacrifice I'd make

So rest easy, and love while we can my dear
I'm here, now and forever, to ease your fear

I love you.
