[Artistic Judgement]

 

What is an artist? Someone who can draw well? A musician? A writer? Many things defy an artist and what 'art' is. But nobody can deny that art is an outlet of emotion, and in many situations, a way to cope. It's more than a hobby, or a job. It's a way to express youself, and to show the way you're feeling without words.

 

But even in our art, we are still self-concious and nervous on the opinions of others. People are somtimes so quick to judge other's art before looking at what it really is, and what it really means:

 

"That's so weird."

 

"You suck at art."

 

"What the heck? That doesn't even make sense!"

 

Art is creation from emotion and thought. No one can really understand it except the creator. It's unfair for people to judge the art and the artist from what they don't even understand. People that display their ignorance more than their own creations are okay with judging others, but too scared to be judged. Which is ridiculous, but I experience these people all the time.

 

Why do you think that is? Is it because these people are insulting others before they can be insulted? Is it because they are putting walls up around them with their words? Why?

 

Sometimes we all need to step back and look at the entire painting before we judge someone.

 

Because you can never really know someone, or their art with one glance.

I got the idea for this when I was drawing. I thought, "Huh, I know several people that would think I was a freak for drawing this."
