"Don't"

I wrote this poem from the perspective of a woman who was strong enough to leave an abusive relationship. I have been through it, so I know how hard and frightening it can be! Kia Kaha-Stay Strong!

Don't...

Don't tell me you "love" me,

because YOU will NEVER mean it.

Don't promise to "protect" me,

when it's YOU I need saving from.

Don't say "it won't happen again",

because YOU say that EVERY TIME.

Don't put the "blame" on me,

when it's YOU who's in the WRONG.

Don't tell me to "cover up" with make up,

because YOUR SELF PITY caused these BRUISES.

Don't "emotionally bully" me so I stay,

when YOU"RE the one who's SCARED of BEING ALONE.

Don't try and "manipulate" me until I return,

because this time I'M STRONG enough to WALK AWAY...

& NEVER LOOK BACK.

PS. Stay strong to those who are struggling, you CAN and WILL get through it! 

Always remember YOU ARE NOT TO BLAME!

I think there's nothing more to add when it comes to the topic. An advice for everyone who struggle with people who abuse them though sadly not always that easy to execute..
