To be Happy

Think happy, be happy?

Yeah, that's a joke

But I think it does get easier

To think happier once you've seen happy

What I mean by that is, It's hard to think happy 

When you can't see a light at the end of the tunnel

I'm not saying once you reach the light

You never get pulled back into that tunnel

But,

The light is closer this time

It's easier to see, it's easier to find again

Closer and closer each time you enter

Until finally you walk freely in

Just strolling through like warm friends

Because you aren't afraid anymore

What I'm saying is you can't just "be happy"

Sometimes it's simply too far away

But it's there

Because that tunnel cannot exist 

Without that light

And Happy can't live without Sad

a simple concept...but a true one. Once we get back to the light from the darkness, we know it is possible and that can make the bad moments not as harsh. And also life is not happy all the time,,,just can't be...and we have to be cognizant of that...the scales balance.

Ok this is an interesting piece written in a free verse conversational tone so it flows like listening to someone speaking and is easy on the reader. Filled with construct theories, happy and sad are constructs and have a range of meanings to different people. It is a verse to make one think. It does contain a rather sad undercurrent though as if the protagonist is trying to convince themselves.

This read more like prose than poetry. Simply centering your paragraphs and not using periods does not make prose into poetry.
