Born a flowerA Poem by Tea4Twoanother warm up poemIt is inherently strange that we as people should grow like plants We are are both born of a seed scattered without consequence And both grow from the sanctuary of our mother's womb But how is it that we differ from a flower?
We rise from sprouts both plain and unassuming Each fighting for our own place in the sun Our leaves twist and form and become unique But still how is it that we differ from a flower?
We develop our intricacies and form through constant obstacle Yet we remain rooted to those around us It is these roots that help us grow And yet still, how is it that we differ from a flower?
When time comes, we are plucked from the ground to be admired Viewed as a single entity rather than a piece of the whole Touched, smelled and appreciated for our beauty But still I ask you. How is it we differ from a flower?
It is only after that fleeting moment of adoration has passed When withered and spent and thrown aside by nature That we ,and not a flower, can look inward and appreciate the beauty of the blossom within This my friend is how we differ from a flower © 2010 Tea4TwoAuthor's Note
