I watched the sunrise end the nightA Poem by TommyDWritten when I was missing a dear friend who had moved awayI watched the sunrise end the night And thought of you. Shades of red, purple hue As Morningstar disappears from view Starlight, star bright, Last star I see this night I wish I may, I wish I might Have this wish to greet the light But wait. . . Can I wish on stars that fade from sight And if I wish against hope that too fades Can my wish have a prayer to come true?
I watched the clouds today, and thought of you. Bold images of white, separating the blue. Columns for temples, a gargoyle, a turtle They shift into each other Look, something new. So, if I fling a prayer upon these shapes To send them to you, Does my prayer have a chance to come true? Or, will my hope be lost to the wind as it carries across the desert Away from view?
I watched the sunset today And thought of you. Rays of light streaking through They touch the clouds, reaching from the sky Healing yellow, orange flows to the deepest of blue. So, if I call upon these mystical colors Will their magic carry my dreams to you Can they fill you as they do my soul Can they bridge the distance of miles, and emotion? On a day such as this, I think they can With the wonder of the stars, the great white turtle, and colors of magic I think my wish, my prayer, my dreams can be felt by youCopyright - Thomas J.
