The Oak by the WoodsA Story by T.D. MinorDrabble - 100 wordsHours after her accident, hypothermia began setting in on Shelly's body. Her pulse weakened and confusion fogged her memory. Only the searing pain that dug into her fresh wound remained constant. Around midnight, she could hear wolves howling in the nearby woods. Her crushed leg pinned under the fallen oak made it impossible for her to reach her cell. She was losing consciousness and made her peace with God. She asked for a miracle, then closed her eyes for good. A helicopter, receiving her ping location, approached her from a distance - if only she had stayed awake a little longer. © 2017 T.D. Minor |
