The CandleA Poem by Tracie D'AngeloWritten May 21, 1989I lit a candle long ago And closed the windows so it would not go I set it on the floor so I could see I stared thru the flame of an image of me Later that day the candle burned low I set it on the table and admired the glow I could still see myself amidst the fire Though the wax was melting the flame seemed higher Almost to dusk the flame was soon to die I put it at bedside where I would lie I watched the candle now short and stout I made a wish then blew it out © 2011 Tracie D'Angelo |
