An Ode to My MotherA Poem by Tazeen Ahmed
When she coveted for the best gift of
life, God sent me down the heavenly hive. With a riveting smile, she cared for
me long, She taught me the right amid the wrong. For all the altruistic deeds, for the
care and comfort, She never whined, rather she showered
blooms from heart. She is the reason for progress, for pragmatism, My flame of inspiration which perspires optimism. Hallows from the angels of heaven, May god bestow upon her forever haven.
Adepth shall I be grateful, for
leading me the path of feathers, Adown shall I apologize, regretting
for my misdemeanors. I ought to esteem her; I owe her a
countless quantity, For she inflicted in me, acceptance
and leniency. Yet altogether, no amount can ever
bear out, The price of all provided and solaced
‘bout. Albeit I carry her on my spines, I’m pretty sure I can’t return any
signs. Hallows from the angels of heaven, May god bestow upon her forever haven.
Her love is like a stream,
philanthropic and standing argosy, Knowing neither regulation nor humiliation
nor eternity. With love and fierceness, she strives
to teach all that seems, To live without her being, to weave envisioned
dreams. For she knows the real me and my worth, To hold my hand for sorrows and joys
henceforth. Her heart is deep, and as clear as a brook, Love, as limitless as the sky vapor. Hallows from the angels of heaven, May god bestow upon her forever haven.
Moralizing like a priest, a teacher of
compassion she be, Perhaps, a philosopher of miracles and
mysteries. A doctor, feasible and cooperative, A cook, whose food is invincible and
hypnotic. A nurse, nurturing to fetch out the
best of my ability, A judge, revealing the right verdicts
fairly. A devoted wife and a loving daughter
she be, Acclimating to numerous professions,
for the sake of me. Hallows from the angels of heaven, May god bestow upon her forever haven.
No matter how far I go, she’ll be with
me, No matter how old I may be, I’ll still
be a baby. No matter how much I disregard, she’ll
shield me, No matter how oft I misbehave, she’ll
spare her heart for me. No matter what my tongue states, she
will always know me, No matter what fault I commit, she’ll
open gates of mercy. Hallows from the angels of heaven, May god bestow upon her forever haven.
Eyes like diamonds, devoid of
deception, Her eyes shine with exemplary acts of reason. Her words are wise, melodious to heed,
Her acts endow within me power indeed. To not let success ignite a spark of avarice, To not let failure dwell in heart,
lighting courage. She treaded me the path of truth and thought, She prayed for the battles I fought. Hallows from the angels of heaven, May god bestow upon her forever haven. © 2017 Tazeen AhmedReviews
