Chapter 23: A tale of golden and silver

They continued to walk in silence that morning where the sun was hovering above them.They had no interest in talking only knowing that each other was there only mattered to them.Occasionally Sirius would stare back at Melina, who would softly smile at him.

He continued to walk in front of her his snout to the ground.''Sirius?''He heard Melina's soft voice.He looked up at her.''Do you think everything at home,is,is safe?''She stammered.Sirius could feel it in the air that worry was taking a toll on her.She was shivering in her fur.Sirius lift his head from the ground and nudged his nose to the side of her face.''Everything's going to be fine,Melina.''

''What about our family?''She asked.Sirius couldn't help,but think.She meant her family,not his.What family does he got?Or have left? He shrugged,slowly.''Your family is going to be alright.''

''No,not MY family.''Melina frowned.''OUR family.''She said softly,nuzzling him.

''What do you mean?''He asked her.

''My family is your family .''She nuzzled him,contently.She stayed like that for some minutes the worries fading away slowly. A smile replaced a frown.

They followed the sun.It was slowly setting down and they knew they were very close to the Titanion's woods then they would have to sleep in the morning and travel at night to follow the sunset and the stars.

They found a clearing from where the sun was setting.They needed their energy for tomorrow if they were going to find Belinda's friend. Melina could somehow feel a special bond between her and this wolf,Briar. She never met him before,no,but somehow in some way she feels close to him. Melina laid down,the grass blending her fur.Sirius laid across from her,his head on his paws.''Night,Melina.''

''Wait,Sirius!''She called before he went to sleep.

''What is it?''He lifted his head.

Melina smiled at him and rolled over on her stomach.''Could you tell me a story?''

''A story?''He repeated.''Aren't you a little to old for that?''

''I ummm...''Melina pinned her ears down in embarrassment.''I like hearing happy stories.They help me have sweet dream.''

''You have nightmaries?''

''Well...''Melina paused.''Not all the time.''She continued.''I just feel safe when hearing a story at night.My mother use to tell me them all the time,before...''She sighed.''Could you just tell me one,please?''

Sirius gazed into her hazel eyes,the stars reflected in them,making them sparkly and flawless to look at.''Of course.''He nodded.

Melina got up and laid beside him,her head on his paws.''This story is called gold and silver.''Sirius began.

''A long time ago before the Evermost was even thought of lived a lone wolf.He had the purest of gold fur.He was strong and brave and handsome everything a she-wolf could want.There was only one word that could describe this wolf.Amazing.''Sirius paused,yawning.

''This wolf was named RedStar. No one ever knew why his name was RedStar,and some say he named himself.No one ever knew why. RedStar was also a lone wolf.He never settled down,he was always running and no one ever knew why. He would occasionally stop to rest,but he was restless.That was until they day he met Emerald.

''The day he met Emerald his whole world changed.Emerald was a fully beautiful silver wolf.She got her name from her piercing emerald eyes.When he first met her she was a alpha female living with a brutal wolf named Osco. RedStar loved this silver wolf so everyday he would go see her without her mate knowing.

''So one day when she wanted to see RedStar again,Osco,followed the silver wolf and found out she was cheating on him.That night Osco planned to kill the golden wolf once his mate was asleep,he left the pack to battle RedStar alone.

''The fight went on for three nights for this female and they would not rest until one would die.Emerald found out about the war and went to stop it,but it was already to late.

''Both of the wolves were scarred and angry.She wanted to break up the fight so she got in between them to only be knocked down by her own mate,Osco. RedStar was angry as he pounced on Osco and tore open his throat.''Sirius laid his head down on Melina's.''Emerald didn't wake up for six days to have fully recovered,the two fled the scene in search of safety.Some say they founded the Evermost and named it after their first born daughter,Ever,but that's a different story. RedStar met Emerald on a journey to find his truth well-being.He was never meant to cross her or meant to fall in love with her.And Emerald wasn't meant to see the golden wolf,but he sure did caught her heart at first sight.''Sirius finished a smile plastered on his face.He felt Melina steady rhythm breathing.He licked the top of her forehead,twitching her ears.

He went to sleep himself.
