Chapter 21: The pup who almost died

The sun was beginning to set when Sirius and Melina stopped to rest.They found a open area to sleep for the night.They had to wait until the sun was beginning to rise in order to go the right way to get to Belinda's friend,Briar.

Sirius knew Belinda and Briar are mates.He knew that Briar was Holly's father and Akari,Maria,and Melina's grandfather. He also knew Briar was a Iyuki Meurick wolf just like Arovi,his brother. It seems as if he knew more of Melina's family then he did of his own.

Melina laid down.She was wasn't tired,but rather bored.Sirius laid next to her,once again their pelts brushing against each other.After some time pass she rolled over on her back to look at the stars and smile.She loved to look at the stars,it reminded her of home for some reason.She never knew why,but she could feel it deep in her soul that she was meant to be with them when the time came.A thought struck her as she remembered Sirius telling her how he can see 'star wolves' she turned to him.''Sirius?''

''Hmmm?''He opened one eye to look at her.

''You said you seen stars wolves,''She paused.''Do they know that you can see them?''

He opened both eyes,yawning.''Yes Melina,they know i can see them.''

''How do they look?''She asked,still staring at the stars above.

''How they once looked before, only stars and glittering clinging onto their pelt and their eyes are milky-like.'' 

''Are they scary to look at?''

Sirius chuckled.''I got use to them.''He shifted his body for now his head was laying across her stomach.She moved her paw down and stroked his pelt.''Are you comfortable?''She teased.

''Now i am.''He yawned softly.

''I can't believe my grandmother put me up for this!''She exclaimed,playfully.''I could be home right now in the flowers field.''

''Are you implying going on an adventure with me is useless?''She knew he was teasing her.

''Yeah.''She wanted to sound sad,but a soft smile came to her face.

''Oh really?''Sirius moved his head closer to her neck.''How can i make you change your mind?''He said seductively,licking her neck.

Melina breathed softly.''Well-''

She was cut off by a loud shrieking noise in the distant.Sirius got up off her.''What was that?''He exclaimed.He turned to look at Melina who shrugged.

''Sounds like someone in trouble to me.''Melina got up shaking the grass off her coat.''Maybe we should go find out.''Sirius agreed.

They both trotted down a hill and ran through the trees to a dead end.A mother she-wolf was close to the edge letting her paw down.Sirius and Melina ran up to her.

''What's wrong?''He asked her.

''My son!''She shouted.''He's hanging on the cliff!''

Sirius looked down to see a small pup holding on a branch with his tiny paws,trying to stay up.Sirius looked at the mother who was crying.''I'll get him.Don't worry.''Sirius jumped down the cliff. Melina comforted the mother.''Don't worry you can trust him.''

''I hope so.''The mother sniffled.

Sirius grabbed hold to a branch with his teeth,sliding down carefully to the pup's height.Sirius let go of the branch falling even lower then the pup.He grabbed hold onto a ledge,pulling himself onto it.He panted.''Hold tight pup!''He called up to the pup.Sirius scanned the place for anything in use.He found nothing.He gulped,he knew what he had to do.''Fall!''He told him.

''Are you crazy?!''He told Sirius.

''Just do it!''Sirius growled.''Trust me!''

The pup was hesitated at first before letting all four of his paws go on the branch he was holding onto.Sirius caught him by the scruff and put him down gently on the ledge.''Now was that hard?''

''Thank you,Mr.Wolf.''The pup wagged his tail.Sirius nodded at him and picked him up by the scruff.

Sirius forcefully dug his claws inside the cliff's rocks trying to find a hole so he could pull both of them up together.He began to climb to the ledge above them.His paws were slipping before he fell again he threw the pup on the ledge.

The pup stared down from where Sirius fell.He wondered if he was coming back up to get him.''Mr.Wolf,sir?''The pup called down softly.

The pup then heard claws digging into the cliff again.His ears perked up.Sirius jumped onto the ledge beside the pup.Without saying a word he picked up the pup and again started digging in the cliff's rocks.

Sirius threw the pup on the land,falling down once again...

''My son!''The mother cheered.She ran up to the young pup,licking him all over and nuzzling.''Your safe!''

''Momma!Momma!''The pup said over and over.

Melina smile at the sweet sight.She saw the pup,but where is Sirius?She went to the cliff's edge as a black and silver wolf pounded his way up,panting heavily.Dust was covering him everywhere.

''Sirius!''

''Melina!''He coughed.

Melina and Sirius made their way back to where they were before,laying down to sleep. Melina licked Sirius cheek and laid across his body,telling him how brave he was to risk his life for a pup.
