Chapter 16: Ayana's problem

Melina stood frozen at the entrance of her grandmother's den.Through the sunlight she saw the pale brown she-wolf inside from Talon's pack.She was claimed Arovi's mate during the leadership. Melina was good friends with this she-wolf,but kept away from her as Arovi claimed power over her.

''Ayana?''Melina whispered. Ayana saw Melina,her eyes sparkly.Melina could tell this she-wolf also been crying.

''Melina!''Ayana jumped up.

Melina walked up to her.''Long time no see,eh?''She smile.''What are you doing here?''

''I was hoping for Belinda to come in.''Ayana looked away.

''What's wrong?''Melina asked.''What do you need my grandmother for?''Melina knew Ayana didn't have any 'real' problems. As a matter of fact this was the first Ayana has ever come to Belinda's cave.

''I just need to talk to her.It's something important.''Ayana sighed.

''I'm in training to be a medical wolf! I want to help!''Melina replied.

''It's nothing concerns you!''Ayana snapped and instantly regret it.''No offense Melina,but i really need to see your grandmother for my problem.I'm sorry.''

''What's wrong?''Both she-wolves turned their attention to the entrance where Belinda stood walking in with some rocks in her mouth.She dropped the rocks in a jar.''I heard my name.What's wrong?''

''Thank goodness your here,Belinda!''Ayana exclaimed.''Can i talk to you?''Her eyes slid over to Melina.''In private please.''Belinda nodded at the young she-wolf and they walked farther away to the back of the cave.

Melina sulked down.She wanted to do anything in her power to help,her friend,Ayana,but ever since the leadership,they been slowly departing from each other. Melina followed to the back only to hear mid conversation.

''...But it can help me!''She heard Ayana's pleading.''Please Belinda,i really need this potion!''

''I don't know,sweetheart.''Belinda looked away from her.''I don't know what's the full affects the MindSet Timer may have on a young wolf.''

MindSet Timer?What she wants with that potion?Melina thought,cocking her head to one side.

''Belinda,''Ayana begged.''Your the only wolf that can help me! A few wolves said you're done with the potion.I need it!''

''But it can hurt the pup or even worse kill it.''Belinda said back.

''That's what i want to happen!''Ayana bared her teeth.

Melina gasped.She made herself known in their presence.''That won't be necessary,Ayana!''She snapped.

''You were listening the whole time?''Belinda asked.

''That doesn't matter right now.What matters is that Ayana can't kill that pup that lies inside her!''Melina said.

''It's my pup,i can do whatever i want with it!''Ayana growled.

''I don't care,Ayana.You're not killing it.''Melina shook her head.

''You don't understand! I'm carrying Arovi's litter! I don't want his seed settling inside me! I don't even want him!''Ayana argued.

Melina looked away from the pleading she-wolf.''Sometimes in life,you don't get what you want,but what you need.''She thought about Sirius' exile whether not to take it as a blessing or crave in more to find him and bring him back.

''I don't want this pup,Melina!''Ayana snarled.''It's not your choice! It's my body,therefore it's my choice to do whatever i want with it!''

Melina turned back to her.''You are already heavily pregnant,whether you like it or not.We're not going to kill a pup that's already developed inside you!''She snarled back.

''You are not being a good friend!''Ayana teared up.''I don't want this pup,i don't want his litter.''Ayana dropped down to the floor,tears running down her face.

Melina hovered over her.''Perhaps,it's not what you want,but what you need and what's best for you.Maybe it was meant to happen to you.Only Lupus knows best.''She said turning away.

Ayana got up,baring her teeth.''I don't care anymore! If i don't want this pup,then i don't want it!''She snapped.''Melina,''She called.''We are NOT friends anymore!''She ran out the cave,wailing.

Melina stopped at the entrance.Not only has she lost Sirius,but also another good friend,Ayana. Her life was really taking a toll on her.Where did i go wrong? Her words repeated in her head what she said to Ayana before she left.''Maybe all this was meant to happen.Lupus knows what he has in store for us...''Melina whispered.She knew she was doing the right thing for Ayana.
