Chapter 7:The rumbling growl

Sirius laid sprawled on the woods' floor.He was pawing his paws in the air to keep away from boredom.Eventually it came and he got up,shaking his fur from the dirt that cling to it.He sighed out loud and raked his claws at a tree,making the most horrible noise ever!

''What are you doing?''He stopped the raking.His eyes became wide as they landed on the sight before him. Melina jumped off a rock and landed in front of him.

''Melina?You finally came?''Sirius sighed loudly again.She stared at him confused.''What?I was bored!''

''Yeah.''She rolled her hazel eyes.''I was going to come earlier,but the leader call for me.''

''What did you do?''Sirius pinned his ears down.

''It's not your business!''She snapped,turning away from him with a sad sigh.Sirius narrowed his eyes.''Well,what's your problem?Sorry if i was trying to help!''He growled.''I'll just go then!''He was about to get up and leave,but Melina stopped him.

''I'm sorry i snapped at you like that Sirius,''She sighed again.''It's nothing.''

''Melina,it's nothing to me,but it affects you.It must be something!''Sirius stared into her eyes.''Maybe talking it out will help you.''

Her ears perked up..Will it help me?She thought.I could trust Sirius,he's everything i wish i was except that he's a male.''Are you sure?''

''Affirmative!''He sat down next to her.

''Alright,''Melina began.''The leader have this son name Geron.He was suppose to pick one of us.It was either me or my two sisters-''

''And he didn't pick you?''Sirius asked.

Melina nodded.''Instead he picked my older sister,Akari.I can see why.I don't know why i'm so jealous,i never really fancied him or ever looked at him.I guess because if you saw my sister,you'd like her too.''Sirius found this hard to believe.He decided to play along with this she-wolf.

''He didn't pick you,you say?''He gasped.''Oh why not?You are the most delicate rose i've ever met before!''He saw Melina blush a rosy red under her fur.He continued.''And those eyes they're so lovely,like honey.The sweet smell of honey and the color of honey is flawless gold!''Sirius smile.''I don't see why he picked you! Look at that flexible body of yours! It's so perfect,it's easy to break! You are like a diamond! The hardest substance!And that pelt,are you sure you didn't come from heaven,babe?''They both laughed.Sirius was glad to make her smile,let alone laugh.Maybe that's all she needed.

Melina nuzzled the black and silver wolf under his chin.She now know why she was glad Geron didn't choose her.Maybe she fancied Sirius so much.

''Come on,let's go to the four corners!''Sirius said jumping to his four paws.Melina looked up to him.

''Well,i don't know...''She looked away from him,smiling.''I'm suppose to stay clean.''

''It's the waters,nothing,but cleanness there!''

''And dry!''Melina threw back.

''Ahhh come on,''Sirius pressured.''I'll race you there! Who ever lose is Erondy!''Melina stared at him wide,then with interest.Erondy was a term wolves used to describe 'weak' or 'unstable' wolves.

''You're on!''She said before running off.Sirius followed after her with his own pace.They raced between two mountains and under a tree with a hole in it.They were head to head.Sirius pulled his legs faster and Melina caught up.

They were both at four corners panting hard and out of breath.Melina breathed.It was a tie after all,but maybe next time she'll beat him.She stared at Sirius through the corner of her eyes.

Four corners was just a place where the wolves go to have fun or lay up.It was just a place that had four ponds leading up to one big river.It was surrounded by trees in the woods.

''We're here.''Melina smile.''I'll race you to the water!''

They both ran and jumped into the water.They were splashing each other with it. Melina was laughing,she was glad she did leave her sisters early.

''Melina!''Sirius taunted.She turned her head to him,to only be splashed by water.''How's that dry for you?''

''Dry is dead! Like you!''She shouted at him swimming up to him.Sirius made his way out the water,his coat fully drenched from the water. Melina was about to follow him.They heard a loud rumble from underneath the earth.It caught them unbalanced.Sirius was knocked into a tree. Melina was taken under the water heading down the waterfall!

''Sirius!''She shouted loudly.Sirius shook his head.''What the-...''He stared in confusion at the sight in front of him.

''Sirius!''Melina yelled again,being taken under water.The water was growing more forcefully on her.She found it hard to stay afloat.''Help!''

''Melina!''He shouted,getting up to all four paws.''I'm coming Melina!I'm coming!''

''Hurry!Hurry!''She yelled,panting.

Sirius tore off a thick branch from a huge tree.He ran with it half hanging out his mouth to Melina.

''Sirius!''She panted.''Help!''

''Grab hold!''He commanded.She didn't need to be told twice.She grabbed the other end of the stick with her mouth.Sirius pulled her up from the flowing water.

''Are you alright?''He sniffed her all over. Melina nodded,shivering in her fur.''I'm fine.Thank you.''She touched her nose to his face,lightly.''You are a good friend.''

''I wasn't going to let you drown!''Sirius looked around them.''Was it an earthquake?''

''It couldn't have been.It didn't tear up anything,Sirius.It sounded more of a growl from a wolf's throat.''Melina answered.

''A wolf's growl can't be heard from miles away!''

''Well,''Melina frowned.This wolf can...''

They stared into each other's eyes before heading up the mountains to see what's going on.
