Used To Be

A Story by David

  Used To be

There were times years ago, that were made of honor, reality and hope. My memories go back at least to Ike. A great general one of five stars , one of only two. He won the war with Hitler and brought great pride to us as a nation. He became our president and times were filled with fantastic hope. There was a great housing boom for the vets from the Korean conflict. What a shame to even call it that when it clearly was a war! There were manufacturing jobs and cars to be made. Detroit was a shiny city by the lakes and thousands employed and given a trade. They supported their families and sent kids off to school.

We had our share of tragedy and dismay. We saw the murder of JFK. I was a student in seventh grade and it was two in the afternoon I believe. It came over the speaker system and told us of the news. It was a national shame.

We had John Glenn, the first to walk outside a space module. We had incredible music and from all generations. We had country, rock, blues and soul. All in complete consideration of each other. People were civilized and children paid attention to their elders. Courtesy was in order and teachers had control. There was no union oversight and corruption of our schools and young.

Allan Shepard gave us more honor to see. This brave marine on Apollo did ride. He spent time on the moon and even golf he played such bravery was our incredible luck. Our flag he did plant. We had hero’s such as Christa McAullife a teacher from New Hampshire blown to bits 73 seconds into flight. And of course the rest of the valiant crew.

All of these incredible people so tremendous in mind , heart, and spirit no longer remembered for their efforts and contributions. Today we have unusually stupid individuals spouting off of laws to be read after passed so that we may know what is in them. These tedious folks are demented beyond belief. There is no more honor or great spirit. Just ridiculous politics and power to be had , all money to be controlled.

Ronal Reagan was the most incredible man of our time. He scared the hell out of the Russians and single handedly ended the cold war. He brought us prosperity, hope and good will towards our fellow man. He showed strength around the world and we were respected or at least feared to the point of respect. He ended communism and the wall came down. Where are these people today? They do not exist and have no idea of the masterful work he did to benefit us as a country and people. He had a major moral compass and it served us as a country so very well. He understood finance and kept us in balance. We have no such thing today. These fabulously ridiculous infantile dopes have no idea of honor, country, soul or values. We do not have long to take care of this morass. We need those of differing values and plans. They need to satnd against the staus quo and belt out their song. The one of serious and adult plans to get us healthy happy and wise. Where we again can respect our people and become again courteous and plain spoken
