Pistashios!

What a wonderful  food They are my crack! I find myself buying two, 2lb bags frequently. My nails are broken and disfigured from the cracking of the shells.  I get so disturbed when I cannot open those several obstinate nuts that refuse my entreaty. I put them aside until I get the required number and then take a lobster claw opener to them. They finally oblige.

I find myself having to portion these wonderful delicacies for my own sake. If not portioned I would continue to fuel my desires until disappeared. This would not be acceptable.

It came to me some time ago. I believe it was the Queen of Persia? These nuts were royal property back in the 1400’s. Maybe long before. I do not profess to be the expert here ,  simply a story teller. At this time they were died red. You do not see this any longer. The reason for the dye was to identify the thieves? This was a royal nut and not to be had by commoners. The term red handed comes from this . The nuts were dyed for the royals so that any that may steal would have the dye upon their hands. Thus the term Red Handed.

Thank God we all have access to this wonderful nut now!
