Sad Day

Sad Day

A Poem by David

Today I saw the news

And it was a day more sad

Than any I had seen

For some time Christ now I’m mad

An aged pachyderm in Mississipi found

Just resting in a cage just new in this town

A show soon to start

Ringling and Barnum in town

The crowds all ready and waiting

And not for the clowns

This marvelous beast, his show soon to be

To rear up on hind legs and brought children to glee

A ball he would roll and swing his great trunk

The show must go on but not this day it seems

For some punk with a gun had other visions and dreams

He got in a car and just by he did drive

A shot from his gun was a shot to the side

As fast as he came and now away from this crime

This felon would flee and slither and slide

I hope as hard as I can this punk they will find

A shot to his side returned just in kind
