The Voice of Regret

The Voice of Regret

A Poem by Taylor Williams

my hands clasped

tight around my throat

i see my vision fade

and the ferryman come

across the river sticks

from where i will now reside

in the seventh circle for this

suicide

ive broken hearts

but am i not a man

 no just a freak, a f*****g alien

i know we make mistakes

but this is all too real

to lose love found

to dig its grave

and put it into the ground

true love takes your heart

to the races

but it can fade

like a leader to the back

but is it love

just cause i want to run back

retracing the stepping stones

that brought us here

i look around and see no one

but surely feel the grip of fear

of being left all alone

close my hands

around my throat

what if she was the one

i let go

too soon for our love

for our love to grow

and my only path now

straight to the gallows

i hear the whisper

i see the reflection

this is not a dream

no this is not inception

i wont wake up

if i die

so tighten the noose

and hang me high

please tighten the noose

and dont you f*****g cry
