The Warrior GirlA Poem by KiaraThe dark hair Cascades over her shoulders. She steps without care Off the pile of boulders. She draws her sword From its sheath And comes forward To address me. “I’m a friend!” She stares long and cold. How can I defend Myself from her hold? She puts her sword to the side But doesn’t set it down. I want to flee, to hide But she has a contemplating frown. “I know” Is her reply. She turns her gaze low But her eyes remain dry. “You’re my love” She finally whispers. Her hair I tug, And then I kiss her. She could have And probably Would have Ended me. The only difference was The compassion on his face. I knew because He couldn’t leave that place. He stared me down And I knew him. I looked at the ground, But I saw right through him. He would understand, Because we were best friends And tonight we sit in the sand, Not even needing to make amends. We can’t live without each other And it’s so sweet and pure. He’ll never leave for another For he was my disease’s cure. © 2012 KiaraAuthor's Note
