Afterlife of a Shadow

Afterlife of a Shadow

A Poem by Kiara
"

Fourth (and final) part of My Shadows

"
I open my eyes
That I didn't know were closed.
I stared up into the light above me.
A figure loomed above me.

"Don't hurt me!"
I screamed.
For once, I heard my voice.
For once, it wasn't a thought.

The figure had to be a Shadow,
Had to be my abandoned friends.
Why did it not speak?
Why did it come closer?

"Who are you?"
A gentle voice,
A beautiful voice
Asked me.

I laughed and smiled,
Not in control of my emotions.
Giggling erupted from my lungs
And tears welled up in my eyes.

This feeling was amazing!
How had I been living in the dark all this time?
This was utter bliss,
This feeling in my heart.

I knew it was my heart,
For what else could it be?
What else could make this feeling?
What else could make me able to love?

Love
Love
Love
Love
Love
