![]() The Innocent and the BeastA Poem by KiaraHands shaking, Mind screaming, Fists clenching, Mouth screaming, I scream. I scream at the dog, At my dog, That brutal canine unleashing his canines. On what? On three helpless baby birds, The nest was just within his reach. He is a killer, Reaching into the cradle of the innocent, Tasting their pain and relishing it. He killed only one. Those birds had no defense. They were toys, Tiny, soft, feathery chew toys. He was just playing, Just being a dog. My younger siblings and I had to bear witness. No tears filled my eyes But a trembling overtook my hands. Who was my dog To take away that innocent life? Yes, it was merely a bird, But that does not make it right. Who was he to kill, To destroy a family For fun??? © 2013 KiaraFeatured Review
