YOUR "school" SYSTEM IS WHACK!A Story by Tatiana D'ore ElliottJust my frustrations towards the school system. Really good. Definitely worth the read!So for those of you who don't know, I am currently not attending school. I have been known to not be with the whole school thing. I am still known to not be with it. But it's not out of laziness nor is it out of rebellion. I am not doing it to prove anything to anyone. I'm doing it because I developed a belief in regards to a complete phony statement. And that statement is this: "If I sit in class from 7-8 hours a day I am gaining an education to make me someone in this world." I have a hard time agreeing with that statement and the belief that school administrators and peers and our government have tried to shove down my throat. And being the person I am, I refuse to be in compliance with anything if I don't feel it's necessary to. I don't believe this statement because doctors are not born sitting in a science class. Doctors are born when people see the need for medical assistance and have the passion to be the person to take initiative to help people on a medical sense. They put themselves through 12 years of schooling because they have the motivation to do so because they are passionate about it. Now riddle me this, why would someone have the motivation to wake up early, to sit in a building, in individual classes with a number of fake people who all they care about is the quality of your eyebrows, and the number of likes on an Instagram post ranging from 20-30+ students being taught how to think like someone else. As children we are forced into this system that does not value our creative expression, nor encourage our unique abilities. We are told, "Shh don't say that" "This isn't the time or place or for that" "You'll never go far with this" "Don't say that." Why? Because you don't agree with it? "This isn't the time or place for that." Well please, enlighten me. When is the time? After school when I'm supposed to be doing "homework" so you get a paycheck? Or when we're supposed to be working because "we're of age to learn responsibility". It seems that the only time "we'll never go far with it" is when it acquires something you think is too hard to be conquered. Don't break me down because I'm choosing to acquire my own thoughts. For instance, a musician is looked down upon by their parents because they don't see it fit to make lots of money. The same thing with a painter...any type of artist actually. But see? It all comes to this one statement... It's not about the money. It's about doing something you love to do. And if making music is what makes you happy then you make music, and you follow that passion. Passion runs a lot harder than money does. I have seen money destroy relationships, family, and this country. We all have, and you can not deny that. So I'm sorry if my choice to not attend school does not settle well with you but I am well aware of what I'm doing. I am well aware of what I believe, and I am well aware that sitting in this system you call "school" will NOT by any means make me the person I am blossoming into. Sorry, if I'm tired of having my knowledge and eligibility in this world based off a letter grade and a series of question you call a "test". Sorry that I've realized that filling in those bubbles making sure to fill them COMPLETELY and not partially does not define who I am and who I'm going to be. Now this doesn't mean I dropped out and won't graduate. I'm going along with your facade that high school is actually teaching me something but I'm gonna do it my way. And that does not make me lazy not rebellious. © 2015 Tatiana D'ore Elliott
