Iris

Iris

A Poem by Lewis Tate
"

That beautiful gaze. The stare.

"
Your Iris, don't let it get away from me.
It's fiercely blooming in your eyes.
Cutting at me, with disguise.
But I think you're starting to tell.
That I Know You, oh so well.
We've both been dreaming of this place to dwell.
Now that it's the truth you see.
Don't take your eyes off of me.
Your pupil, your iris, in my direction.
So we can see our reflection, it's no longer just a connection.
It's the most beautiful resurrection.
Damn, I thought I finally had these feelings under control.
Now I see, there's no way to silence your soul.
Cut me up, cut me up, just look this way.
I want to be put in disarray.
Wow, the beauty, don't tell me you haven't been lost.
Because this, I'll fight for at any cost.
I feel I scare you with my love.
Because you know once you're in, you'll never be able to dispose of...
My heart, it will linger
And the last thing you need, is a stinger.
I want to say let's tone it down a notch
But the melodies so rare, I just listen and watch
To sounds that will always ring a bell.
The last thing I can do is say farewell.
Just because it may be too strong.
Can you handle something lifelong?
Oh God, just be that flower.
There really is no need to cower.
Because, baby...   we are the Tallest Tower.
