MotherA Poem by TashidaA poem about one of the most important people in my life: My mother. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.Mother If ever there was a word to describe you, Then perhaps I would not be struggling so hard to unearth the right thing to say. But the truth is: There is no one word to describe you. Diligently working like a slave for a job that pays a mere minimum wage. Knowing you need the sleep but the money a bit more. So, like a bat, you work through the night. Late to bed and early to rise seems to be the motto you live by. Your life restrained by that busy schedule of yours: Teaching, working, and mothering seem to be the order of each day. But no matter how tough it might’ve gotten, I’ve never once seen you complain. So yes, mother There is no one word to describe you nor the well of gratitude many feel towards you. But if I had to try, well, why bother? You’ve escaped a straight definition. © 2016 TashidaAuthor's Note
