Moonshine and Stardust (Lyrics)

Moonshine and Stardust (Lyrics)

A Story by Tash Hill
"

We've been laying in moonshine and stardust Trying our hardest to prove this isn't just lust Eyes wide open we've been flying blind ‘Cos babe, we’re Lovers of the phantom kind

"

We've been laying in moonshine and stardust

Trying our hardest to prove this isn't just lust

Your honeycomb eyes been staring at me in distrust

Your mistrust crumbling this love into nothing but dust

Just now realising how tangled things have gotten

This adventure's become just a little misbegotten

But I can't imagine how you could have forgotten

All the mornings we spent tangled up in Egyptian cotton

We've been laying in moonshine and stardust

Trying our hardest to prove this isn't just lust

Eyes wide open we've been flying blind

‘Cos babe, we’re Lovers of the phantom kind

It's hard to figure out when things got so bittersweet

When we're holding hands runnin' down this dark street

In our chests beats a humming bird heartbeat

Sweat on our brows as we're baskin' in this white heat

Six months ago we could have tied the knot

But now I can't even tell if you love me or love me not

You're holding the gun, Babe, time to take the shot

All I want to know is: "Do you love me or not?"

We've been laying in moonshine and stardust

Trying our hardest to prove this isn't just lust

Eyes wide open we've been flying blind

‘Cos babe, we’re Lovers of the phantom kind

I know you’re scared that your dad will start a war

But I’m sick of hiding this, sick of the ever closed door

I’ve been waiting for so long now and now I need more

‘Cos you’re the wings and we’re ready to soar

We've been laying in moonshine and stardust

Trying our hardest to prove this isn't just lust

Eyes wide open we've been flying blind

‘Cos babe, we’re Lovers of the phantom kind

Breast against breast, I refuse to feel shame

You've got my heart, babe, you've set me aflame

I'm here waiting, girl, and ready to take your name

Fingers crossed, here's hoping you feel the same

We've been laying in moonshine and stardust

Trying our hardest to prove this isn't just lust

Eyes wide open we've been flying blind

‘Cos babe, we’re Lovers of the phantom kind

Hey Tash, I feel the frustration expressed in this poem, I liked the way you used repetition in the moonshine and stardust lines, well done.
