Weeping Willows and Bloodied Pillows (Lyrics)

A Poem by Tash Hill

Lyrics written for an upcoming Anti-Bullying / Suicide Awareness Project.

"

He’s looking at the guy he’s not willing to fight

He’s getting’ bruises from him and kisses at night

Not happy holding hands where nobody sees

He’s got fear in his eyes and blood on his knees

They laugh at him and break his heart

It won’t take long now, ‘til he falls apart

Buried in his own self-hatred and shame

Every night and every day, always the same

A bloodied blade just beneath his pillow

He’ll be laid to rest beneath the weepin’ willow

Hiding scars, holding tears

Eyes over shoulders, so many fears

Nobody cares if there’s no broken bones

Words been killin’ more than those stones

Looking in the mirror she hates who she sees

Begging and pleading she’s brought to her knees

With tears in her heart, she’s been watching the scales

They whisper and jest, telling cruel tales

They don’t know how many meals she’s missed

Can’t see all the scars on her wrists

If only they had known her life was the price

When they ignored all her pleas and all her cries

A rumpled note left beside her pillow

She’ll be laid to rest beneath the weepin’ willow

Hiding scars, holding tears

Eyes over shoulders, so many fears

Nobody cares if there’s no broken bones

Words been killin’ more than those stones

If all it takes is education

Why allow discrimination?

It’s going to take more than just rules

To end the war in our home and in our schools

It’s going to take heart and hope

To save our kids and help them cope

Anymore hate and no one survives

So let’s join together and save their lives

Speak up and scream out

We can’t give up, can’t lose this fight

It’s our kids that we’re losin’

Our children that we’re brusin’

Anymore hate and no one survives

So let’s join together and save their lives

Speak up and scream out

We can’t give up, can’t lose this fight

It’s our kids that we’re losin’

Our children that we’re brusin’

Hiding scars, holding tears

Eyes over shoulders, so many fears

Nobody cares if there’s no broken bones

Words been killin’ more than those stones

No more blood to spill upon our children’s pillows

No more victims to lie beneath the weeping willows

Speak up and scream out

We can’t give up, can’t lose this fight

Can’t give up, can’t lose this fight

Can’t give up, can’t lose this fight

Anymore hate and no one survives

So let’s join together and save their lives

"No more blood to spill upon our children’s pillows
No more victims to lie beneath the weeping willows

Speak up and scream out"

I like the message within. Repetition is good too...Thank you for sharing...:)...................

I found the repetition to be quite effective in getting the point across and I can see this being used in a song that is likely to succeed in reaching the target market. Very well written, I am pleased to see you back on here, it had been a while since you last posted something. I always enjoy reading your work.

One minute point, in the line "Our children that we’re brusin’" maybe change that to bruisin', otherwise most excellent work.
