Scares Me to Death

Scares Me to Death

A Poem by Tas
"

Jus writing the fears that u have/had in a relationship

"

I’m scared to death of being with you

I’m scared to death that I might

End up hurting you or you me

I’m scared to death that you might

Wake up one day and realize

You’re too good for me

Or that I might wake up and be crazy

Enough to think I’m too good for you

I’m scared to death that I feel I can’t live without you

I’m scared to death that I think of you as my heartbeat

I’m scared to death when my friends say I don’t need you

That you’re cheating on me, that’s its not love just obsession

That I’m too good for you and you’re just using me

I’m scared to death that they may just be right

I’m scared to death that one day I’m going to look around

And that you won’t be there

I’m scared to death of losing you to death

I’m scared to death of you losing me in that way

I’m scared to death to think about all the bad things

I’ve done in this relationship

Cause then I’m going to be scared to death

That you will too and then put it to an end

I’m scared to death that I’ve hurt you

Over and over again

I’m scared to death that you have hurt me

I’m scared to death because I think you may try to replace me

I’m scared to death that you’re irreplaceable to me

But out of everything I’m scared to death of

I’m scared of these things the most:

I’m scared that I really love you

That you really love me

I’m scared that you are really my everything

That I’m really your everything

Because then it scares me to DEATH

To know that I’ll lose you

Either now or later

In one way or another.

And the thought of that

Makes me scared to the point

That I feel I am DEAD!

This is a strangely tragic poem about the fears of love. It wasn't too overpowering, though. The reader was able to follow along and relate to these anxieties that love brings. I can say myself that as I read I was able to make a connection. This piece seems to have a certain simplicity, which works well with these frantic worries. It creates the tone of the poem. I did like the ending, which for some reason seemed ironic to me. The whole poem had the sense of lightness, but still carried the weight of the matter.

I think this was a good read, and think your writing style is unique. It captures the message in a way of its own.
