The feeling after a break up and the thoughts of getting back together

When you told me it was over

My heart broke into two

You promised you would never leave

And now here you are breaking a promise

That is cause my heart to break all the way through

 

I thought everything was ok

Everything was all right

And I never saw this break up

Anywhere in my sight

 

You said it was hard for you

But it was something you needed to do

But that did not change the fact that you were not true

When you said, “I would never leave you”

 

Losing you was hard for me

It left me lost and confused

And I wish I could find my way back to you

But to tell you the truth losing you once

Was hard for me and would kill me

If I had to do it again

 

So as hard as it is for me

Taking you back is not for me

Putting myself in a position

To maybe lose you again

Is much too for me to bear

 

Because I know that losing you again

Will make the first time

Seem like a wonderful night

At the carnival fair

Wow This one touches a cord with me. I LOVE THE WRITE! I myself have left someone then turned to regret it. Although i thought i was being noble by leaving because i felt i was holding him back from a full life it wasn't up to me to decide what he wanted. anyways to love someone that much that you are so affraid of the hurt it would bring if you loose them again is a VERY scarey thing but won't you always ask yourself what if?? What if she realized what she had and that it REALLY was what she wanted? The sayings true you never know what you have until its gone it actually works on both ends.

This is full of hurt and pain. It sounds as if it was wonderful at the time. But the realisation of not being a couple has taken it's toll on your heart and soul, leaving you to make the decision of not going there again. Methinks you would desperately love to go there again but are scared stiff of the consequences.
Anyway deary....love this too much !!

You make a great point. How can you trust that she will not leave again if she promised not to the first time. A reminder of the age old quote "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice..." It's a difficult and painful thing, but brava to you for moving on and staying strong.
