But life happens
It changes people
Who I am now
Isn't who I was before

I thought we were friends
Maybe we were
But life happens
It alters identity
Who you are now
Isn't who I knew before

Before I knew that
Your touch ignited fires
That your kiss could melt
Before you left me feeling
So many things I'd never felt
Before mirrored ceilings
Reflected me in your embrace
Before believing I saw my future
Everytime I looked at your face
Before your promises became lies
And my hopes turned to dust
Before the man that I love
Became someone I can't trust

I thought that I knew you
Maybe I did once before
But life happens
And you don't know me anymore
