THERE WAS A TIMEA Poem by Tanya7
There was a time, not long ago
A place where golden crops would grow I lay beneath a willow tree Where grandpa used to sing to me The grass was green, no orchard bare The flowers bloomed with grandpas care The sheep would graze, all free to roam A place to truly call a home As quick as taking shallow breaths The home I loved fell upon death Strangers raped each weed of grass Scattering remains of glass The sheep no longer hummed a tune All orchard in consuming doom My grandpas tune a distant song Faded away, and now its gone I drag myself through broken grounds Remembering the strangers sounds And sit beneath that willow tree The only comfort left for me © 2010 Tanya7Reviews
