Night Vision

Night Vision

A Poem by Tannim

Please No CSS

Lying in bed, trying to sleep,

thinking about the day just past.

Faintly I thought I heard a knock,

but I doubted anyone came by.

Drowsy now, almost asleep,

about to surrender to the night,

a knock again, but this time

at my bedroom door.

Before I could focus

my nearly sleeping brain

the door began to open,

and into my bedroom,

much to my surprise,

walked myself.

I watched as my double

walked across the room,

sat on the edge of my bed.

Sleep was now

the last thing on my mind,

as my double began to speak.

“Don’t panic, and don’t speak,

I don’t have much time.”

“I’m only here to tell you

than you need to give yourself a chance.”

With that said my double stood,

smiled down at me.

And without another word

faded from my sight.

I tried to understand this vision,

was I sleeping, insane, haunted?

Or could it merely be my subconscious,

giving me a helping hand?

Wow, it's very different and very strange. Did this really happen or did you just come up with it randomly as sort of a pep talk for yourself?
