Fall Into Gray

Fall Into Gray

A Poem by Tania Leigh

My heart is made of ruby red glass and adorned by sapphire scars. I keep it safely locked in its crystal case upon a pedestal of cascading colours; it is the only brilliance within a vast gray sea of emotions…

Then along comes your love; a tiny steel hammer, forged of hurt and anger and swung by pride as I watch helplessly…

I am ruefully in awe of the irony in the beautiful tinkling sound that I

hear when the crystal case is conquered and tiny shards of ruby red glass

explode ...and fall into gray.

A nice piece, reminded me of beauty and the beast where the rose is in the glass case slowly loosing it's petals. A wonderful write!

Oh my gosh! You didn't have to tell. That's very sweet of you. All the credit goes to you for an outstanding poem. I'm creating a piece of art that your treasure here has prompted. See what YOU started?

Great work Tania. I thought this was well thought out and structured - not realising this was just a challenge to use one word 'pedestal'. Funny how sometimes given that influence of thought how a poem can develop into such a wonderful piece of colour and images. You have definately risen to the challenge!

im not so sure i understand...when u say "forged in hurt and anger and swung by pride", i get that someone u fell in love with broke ur heart. However, there is a bit of contradiction when u say "when the crystal case is conquered" it implies that the sheild around ur heart is actually what melted, leaving ur heart intact and open to love. Or is it that the hurt, anger and pride mentioned is at the fact that uve kept ur heart locked away from sumone who loves u and thinks u shud have done the same?

I love the fact that the end hangs.......did the ruby red shards conquer the grey, or were they swallowed by the darkness?

Much like romantic love itself - the mystery is the "hook". Excellent piece.
