Abandon

Abandon

A Poem by Tania Leigh

Luminous light adorns the horizon as Dawn

lends her warmth to the storm-ravaged sea.

Tempestuous waves of the fore-night, now tame,

roll their way to the shore, then in silence recede.

I stand alone with bare feet in the sand and seek

comfort from the cold ocean water’s caress.

By turns, my troubles I cast to the surf and then

pray that this time they, too, will regress.

The salt of my skin meets the cool ocean spray;

they unite as warm tears stream down my face.

I walk away quickly, leaving behind sorrow and

my memories for the sea to erase.

Gorgeous write! Great flow and vivdly soft words.
And a lesson so few seem to understand....
We all endure sorrows and tragedy, unavoidable by the inexorable process of life, but we need not dwell and harbor them, turning to darlness, but rather take them to a place of beauty and release them to time.

Very Moving. A Favorite to be certain.

You write about pain so well - again mixing human emotion with nature. The cross over of the two paints a beautiful picture. Wonderful imagery. And I hope the sea has done its job and rid you of your sorrow.

Very beautiful and poignant. Eloquently spoken. This is one of my favorites of yours.

p.s. Hey, these things must be true about your poem because I just scrolled down and saw that "Sweet Peaches Always" chose almost the exact same words to describe your poem...how funny.
