The Raven's Path

The Raven's Path

A Poem by Tania Leigh

As I close my weary eyes I see a raven in the dead oak tree

that marks the end of this fateful path -- and my life –

but I manage a laugh, for as its cold

black eyes watch over me in

 grotesque anticipation of

 my very last breath,  it

is I who will win in

 the end, you see;

it is I who chose

not the path on the left.

Death was right and Life was left.

"The Raven's Path" is great read Tania. I first spellbound by the visual effect of your written words on the page, looks good - read the poem.

"As I close my weary eyes I see a raven in the dead oak tree
that marks the end of this fateful path -- and my life "

The imagery of the dead oak tree marking the death place, and the raven being the last sight the weary eyes would see, sent shivers down my spine.

It was your life, your choice, your death, the Raven had no choice but to watch you - your demise meant it's survival. So the raven watched---------

The double play on words at the end is very clever. Actually if you think about it is is really a triple play on words.

Love it Tania and this one is among my faves Jen

That last line is pure brilliance. A more perfect double double entendre I cannot fathom. I adore your mind, Tania.
