The Raven's Path

The Raven's Path

A Poem by Tania Leigh

As I close my weary eyes I see a raven in the dead oak tree

 that marks the end of this fateful path -- and my life –

 but I manage a laugh, for as its cold

 black eyes watch over me in

 grotesque anticipation of

 my very last breath,  it

is I who will win in

 the end, you see;

it is I who chose

 not the path on the left.

 Death was right and Life was left.

I'm sure Edgar would approve wholeheartedly, as I do (and who am I ?) The mystery of death and how it was right, thus a victorious death over the darkness. An incredible picture--but your words do tell it more than well. A whole story could take place from your poem...death as the beginning to a tale untold. You are always fantastic with setting the reader up for wanting to know more and more--this is no exception.
