The Raven's Path

The Raven's Path

A Poem by Tania Leigh

As I close my weary eyes I see a raven in the dead oak tree

that marks the end of this fateful path -- and my life –

but I manage a laugh, for as its cold

black eyes watch over me in

 grotesque anticipation of

 my very last breath,  it

is I who will win in

 the end, you see;

it is I who chose

not the path on the left.

Death was right and Life was left.

Haunting to say the least. Your rhymes are always so flowing and hit every beat as if guided by some unseen force. Your imagination knows no bounds. The last line was perfect for the poem. Great write.

reminded me of "the crow"...

the crossings of two souls, a mortal between paths where raven leads death... you choose your own...

your words follow through, nice image and presentation!! KUDOS!

Whoa you just sent chill down my spine... Sometimes the paths we do take require great risk... fail or succeed we win just by trying.

Folk superstitions often combine the black bird and death. I saw a really great episode of the Twilight Zone once that told it in a new and interesting light. I really enjoyed this.

This one is a true spine tingler. And the choice to die is one we have all pondered over greatly... Haunting really!
