We all have one...

Should the mask I wear ever
fall to the ground, revealing
 the secrets behind it; please
 leave it be and pretend
you didn’t see, for I’ll
be coming ‘round
to find it.

I wish everyone would lose their masks. Maybe if that happened life would be less painful, no?
You touched on a powerful topic with masks and bring to light a great point. Despite the fact your character lost their mask they make a point that they havn't completely lost an attachment to it be mentioning that they'll be back. I wonder if our masks in somecase don't become a part of us? I wouldn't be surprised. Great write.

My library is empty but it's about to get a special delivery with this poem! An absolute gem and says so much in so few precious words. One of my favorite movies is "The Mask," thank you for triggering the delightful memories of watching that about 40 times. LOL.
