Castle Walls

Castle Walls

A Poem by Tania Leigh

I've one thing to say
before my crusade:
your reign is over,
relinquish your throne.

It escaped your attention
while you were so busy
ruling your kingdom
and admiring your crown

That I'm my own person,
not one of your minions;
I am equal to you --
why can't you accept that?

When did it happen
that you became jaded
and hid from the world
behind castle walls?

You're not the same person
that I gave my heart to ;
I'm taking it back now

to protect it from harm.

I'll leave you with warning;
you'd be wise to heed it:
there's a new Queen in town
and when I reign, it pours.

And when I reign, it pours

love that line. Forcefully taking back the gift that was given and abused. A powerful tale of redemption from a cross lover. Strong piece.

Nice work...seems like a rant. Nicely done and I thank you for sharing.

I like it! The rhythm of the second stanza was a little awkward. However, It's a great poem. Thank you for sharing.
