Castle Walls

Castle Walls

A Poem by Tania Leigh

I've one thing to say
before my crusade:
your reign is over,
relinquish your throne.

It escaped your attention
while you were so busy
ruling your kingdom
and admiring your crown

That I'm my own person,
not one of your minions;
I am equal to you --
why can't you accept that?

When did it happen
that you became jaded
and hid from the world
behind castle walls?

You're not the same person
that I gave my heart to ;
I'm taking it back now

to protect it from harm.

I'll leave you with warning;
you'd be wise to heed it:
there's a new Queen in town
and when I reign, it pours.

Write up my era. Yes I am a big fan, and castle walls is my life. Tania evades the usual metaphors brilliantly with powerful word play. Using strong words she builds her castle walls perfectly. This is an excellent piece of declaration building up to independence. The message is clear, to the point and well understood.
" I am equal to you " Is a powerful statement of stone shaking proportions and Tania certainly knocks the walls down with this poem. One of my favorite lines in this piece is; "there's a new Queen in town
and when I reign, it pours." Divine, classic, legendary- these are words all woman from times forgotten to our own new age disaster feel in their hearts.

This one hit home, my friend in that people can easily hide beneath a phony exterior, and suddenly we wonder what happened...why we couldn't see it...how we somehow lost our sense of self. Great ending.

A declaration of independence. Plainly stated and sonds like it's going to be enforced. The best lines of course are
"There's a new Queen in town
And when I reign, it pours"

i love that part, it shows attitude and power. this is a great write, shows that the queen is very independent and will not bend to the will of others. i love the description and metaphors used in here as well. great job! :)
