She Says

She Says

A Poem by Jacqueline
"

An old reflection...

"

"Sometimes" she said to me
"sometimes you'll have to let the pain heal."
Let the pain heal?
What happens when every step you take
is another mistake and everything becomes too hard for you to deal?
Tired... she says!
Tired of what?
Of the disappointment she gives
And all the hearts she corrupts.
She has spent her whole life wondering from
one childhood to the next
Breaking all the homes she'd been following
just to find her nest
To error is just human,
"to error is to destroy" she's a mess
With all the pain consuming her
The tears fall on ice and freeze to her chest
and eyes are supposed to be swarovski
crystal ... the windows to the soul.
Beautiful felt the glass break, a long time ago...
The shadows chase her blatantly
through black woods and hollow areas,
she feels the virus spreading,
blames friends and fellow neighbors.
wakes up one night from sweating,
wakes up one night from dreaming and
realizing all she wants to know.
"The surreal visions I keep having have
nothing to do with me being happy"
so she gets her bag and starts packing,
finds a feather in her suitcase
and then a cab to go away
Angels leave feathers everywhere they go
"I'm tired of finding the remnants of something perfect."

Having just read several of your poems, I'll try to comment. I'm the world's worst at gleaning the underlying message from this kind of poetry, so I will only say that your thoughts seem deep and your pen sharp. You're quite a good poet, Jaqueline.
