The Past Tense of Love

The Past Tense of Love

A Poem by Areya Valena
"

It may not rhyme at some parts, but i did the best i can/

"

My old friend,

you barge in my lilfe.

Unexpected,

Unanticipated.

And I let you in.

You smile that smile,

and flash those eyes.
And I let you in.

You talk about memories,

the past I try to erase.

And I let you go.

You rub my hand,

and call me pet names.

And I let you go.

You whisper you miss me,

you want to be with me again,

And I hate you.

You tell me you love me,

you should've let me go.

And I love you.

You want to kiss me,

to hold me again.

And I love you.

You try to corrupt me again,

tell me what i want to hear.

And I'm gone,

Because i can't find the past tense of love...
