You don't care, you don't know me

You don't care, you don't know me

A Poem by tanaya
"

A poem about my mum... As sad as that is

"

You don’t know me

You pretend you do

But you don’t

You don’t know what I like

You don’t know how I feel

You don’t know my deepest fears and regrets

Though you should

You supposed to know my deepest fears

Your supposed to know what makes me laugh

What my weaknesses are

What I need the most,

But you don’t

You only know the me that I show you

My mask

But you don’t care

If I'm moping you ignore it

If I'm happy you put me down

And you don’t care

It breaks my heart,

Rips it in two

With only a gaping hole left behind

I cant breath

And you don’t care

The tears run down my face

And you don’t care

How could you ignore me like that?

I scream at you,

With tears running down my face

And you don’t even see them

You don’t care

You don’t know me

Besides small grammatical errors, like you're instead of your, it's pretty real. And unfortunately I know exactly how you feel. The mother you should have doesn't know you and only knows what you show her. It's touching.

Nice piece. Angsty, gutsy, a practically perfect crescendo of pain.

I wish people would understand me, sometimes I feel like it's so obvious that what I portray isn't really me, but no one notices. This poem is beautiful and I could feel your pain through your words.

'tis like reading my thoughts from the time I was 14-16 and I had to deal with my own mum.
Very good work. I know these feelings and you manage to cover them in such strong words and express them in the bes possible way. You have one big hug from me.

Sometimes we seem to be an island to ourselves, with nobody else understanding what goes on inside. It can give much heartache. You've expressed this well in your poem.

Nice work...

This was a very emotional piece, and I believe it caters to the feelings of many kids/teenagers out there today. Some parents just don't see things through their childs eyes, and don't give them the emotional support they need or crave. This is a sad thing in this world, there are people out there that are changing things like this and being there for their kids, but there are others that have a very long way to go before significant changes can be made. This was a very good write and portrayed the emotion, and longing beautifully. I hope things get better for you!

I have a 17 yr old son and this is always a fear of mine.. Am I doing enough to be present for him...to hear him to know him... I hope I am. And I hope that is something you find also..you deserve to be seen and heard and understood..xx

Hate to see these types of poems for as a parent I cannot understand why one could ignore their childs pain tears and worries, it would break me in two to feel I had failed one of my own like this. This is a powerful piece full of pain and emotion, chin up and keep em' coming

It's emotional, and I'm sure most teenagers can relate :)
Good write

Sadly we can't control who parents are, or even sometimes who we look up to. Your pain speaks, it can be released. Good write.
